If you have accepted Christ into your life then you may have witnessed or even experienced the Grace of God working in you or someone you know. I know when I first came to Christ my mind was amazed at how much knowledge a disciple of God can have about the Word of God and how they can be so wise to understanding the Word. The Word says this wisdom is of the Holy Spirit. If you are a new Christian or maybe you haven’t yet placed your trust in Christ I want to encourage you to read your Bible. Nothing can replace reading your Bible for gaining wisdom and understanding in your life and growing your relationship with Christ. You can listen to all the pastors in the world every day and still not have a relationship with Christ or a growing relationship with Christ. Just as a friendship with another person requires communication and interaction in order to grow, the same is required of us for our relationship and friendship with Christ. Christ loves you as much now as He ever will, however, you will only know more of Christ when you seek Him.
Do you know that the Bible tells us that the Word of God is Jesus Christ? The Bible is the written Word of God and the Word is living? The Word is alive today just as it was thousands of years ago. The Holy Bible is a living Word of God. So what does this mean to you? Here are some truths about reading the Word and how Jesus will work in you in your life.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.” John 1:1-2 NIV.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20 NIV.
“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23
It is through baptism in Christ that we receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit. It is through reading His Word that we gain understanding and truth. “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.” James 1:5-7 NIV.
“Fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Proverbs 1:7 NIV. Don’t be foolish and disregard reading God’s Word. The Holy Spirit gives understanding of God’s Word. First accept Jesus Christ into your life then the Holy Spirit will work in you so that you can begin to understand the Word and accept its truth. Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31-32 NIV.
In order to break away from your bondage in this world so that you can be set free is first knowing the truth. Knowing Jesus Christ is knowing the truth. How do you get to know Jesus Christ in person? Read His Word contained in the Holy Bible and you will be free indeed.
God Bless.
