I want to share my thoughts with you on the subject and book of Revelations, specifically chapter 20 vs. 8 and also Ezekiel chapter 38. Let me give you some forethought first, if I may. The closer you come to know Jesus, and to spend time in reading His word, the more the Holy Spirit will work in your understanding of His Word. Not only does God reveal His word to you in greater understanding, but you also can recall and remember passages and verses or at least you can recall them when you hear them spoken, and that makes you feel good..Right? I have not been a person who will sit down and memorize verses, although I think this can be of benefit especially when you are introducing the word to someone else. Whether you memorize or not, I believe it is important to read and gain the understanding of the Bible. I know that the Pharisees, during Jesus’ time on earth in ministry, knew the writings of our Old Testament and had them memorized, yet Jesus rebuked them because they themselves did not follow those writings and thought of themselves as “Better” than everyone else because they memorized the writings. They misled fellow Jews because they added a heavier burden with added “rules/laws” that were not even part of the original Law by God. I am not saying that you shouldn’t memorize verses from the Bible, but you should guard yourself from placing yourself higher than those around you. This being said I will get back to my thought.
The recent news of Russia’s aggression toward a neighboring country, and former Soviet state, makes me think of the book of Revelations, written by John, and as prophesied by Ezekiel. I found the verses and am pointing them out to you, not to say that this is where we are now or that this event is happening right now, but to point out that it is interesting to see how these events occurring now could be a piece of the puzzle that leads to the battle of Armageddon. It is believed my many that Russia is the country from the “far north” also known as Magog that comes to Israel for war. So what about Russia? In recent years, and after the fall of the Soviet Union, I kind of thought that Russia was becoming less aggressive and more open to freedoms. Then a change happened, as we saw Putin come to power a few years back, we see a tightening of freedoms again and with the recent laws making homosexuality illegal, it is becoming apparent to me that Russia may be returning to a more aggressive state. Doesn’t it make sense that for a country to move against Israel, that it must be a country that is aggressive?
The truth is that the Bible says that “In days to come, Gog, I will bring you against my land, so that the nations may know me when I am proved holy through you before their eyes.” Ezekiel 38:16. God is always in control, He brings this country against Israel. Why? That is answered above; “so that the nations may know me when I am proved holy through you before their eyes.” It is a wakeup call to all of us. Now read on down to chapter 18. “This is what will happen in that day: When Gog attacks the land of Israel, my hot anger will be aroused, declares the Sovereign Lord.” Read on… This is also known as the battle of Armageddon. God will make known His holy name among His people Israel.
Now, I believe as many Biblical scholars believe that as the book of Revelations reads, Jesus will return and remove His people before the seven year tribulation which also precedes the battle of Armageddon. Thankfully those of us who call on Jesus to save us and have asked Him into our hearts and have repented are “His People”. You know it only takes you with a true heart to call on Jesus to be saved, that’s it. There is no extra cost, no form to fill out, no money to be given, to sweat or speech… It was all paid in full by Jesus Christ on the cross. We are redeemed and made Justified by Christ in the eyes of God. Thank you Lord for your sacrifice. You know during all this war and rumors of war, the falling of our nation as it seems; when you follow Christ, there is no worry. Our home is not of this earth, this is only temporary. We were made to be with God. That is the longing in our hearts and the hole we try to fill with things, that don’t work. As followers of the Way, we long for the day Jesus returns to take us home. No one knows the day or hour of His return, only God. But as Jesus taught, just as we know the changing of the seasons, we will know the end is near by the events that He made available to us in His Bible.
Thanks for reading, God Bless.
